Starfield gets big bug fix and improvements patch to accompany Shattered Space DLC

Starfield’s first major story expansion, Shattered Space, is now here, opening up a new, aggressively purple corner of the galaxy for players to explore – and its arrival has been marked with the launch of a big new patch bringing a sweep of fixes to the base game.

Patch-wise, update 1.14.70 is fairly lacking in eye-catching headline additions, although it does promise the likes of performance and stability improvements (always welcome), game-wide lighting changes and enhancements, visual updates for weapon models, improved player head tracking when exiting dialogue, and more. That’s on top of a chunky list of more specific fixes throughout the game, as detailed in Bethesda’s patch notes – and, for those who want to preserve their clicking fingers, at the bottom…

Baldur's Gate 3 takes a step closer to real-time with pause combat thanks to "very rough" early mod

If you’re a traditionalist who kind of wishes Baldur’s Gate 3 had stuck to the series’ classic real-time with pause combat roots instead of taking a swerve into new-fangled turn-based territory, there’s now – as they say – a mod for that. Sort of.

Modder tinybike has just released (thanks PC Gamer) what they call a “very very very rough draft” of a real-time combat mod for Baldur’s Gate 3. Which is to say, the real-time part of the equation is now there, but the critical “with pause” bit currently isn’t implemented, meaning players are likely to get wiped off the face of Faerûn before making much progress.

Still, tinybike doesn’t think adding pause functionality should be especially difficult. “I think because of the way I’m doing combat, which is basic…

Sony reveals Ghost of Yōtei, the follow up to Ghost of Tsushima

Sony has revealed Ghost of Yōtei from Sucker Punch, a follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, and it’s due out next year.

The game will feature an all-new Ghost protagonist named Atsu and takes place in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei – that’s on the island of Hokkaido in northern Japan.

The reveal trailer has something of a western vibe to it, with plenty of horse-riding and guitar music, and of course it looks stunning.

Lego Fortnite heads into uncharted territory with huge Lost Isles expansion

Lego Fortnite, the survival crafting experience found within Fortnite itself, is getting ready to welcome players to an all-new mode known as The Lost Isles.
This is only the second Lego Fortnite expansion that includes a battle pass (the first being Star Wars in May).
On its debut, the Lost Isles will introduce players to five new blocky environments to explore: Beach, Plains, Jungle, Mountains and Floating Islands. While the beach is described as “a great place to pursue relaxation” (pirates aside), the jungle environment holds the potential for a scuffle with Storm-Wild Tomatoes.

Tony Hawk has "been talking to Activision again" as Pro Skater 25th anniversary looms

Tony Hawk has revealed he’s “been talking to Activision again” about the Pro Skater series ahead of its 25th anniversary this September.

The original Tony Hawk Pro Skater debuted on 29th September 1999, and would go on to receive four further numbered entries – alongside dozens of spin-offs – culminating in 2020’s critically acclaimed (and record-breaking) remake of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 & 2.

Unfortunately, plans to give Pro Skater 3 & 4 a similar remake treatment were reportedly scrapped after Activision made the decision to merge developer Vicarious Visions into Blizzard – so it could serve as a support studio for the Diablo franchise and other titles.
